David Ebner was
born in a small town in Northeast Ohio called Barberton. He played basketball
and golf throughout high school, but his true passion was writing and playing
music with his band The New Element. David wrote his first short story for an
English course while he was a sophomore but thought little of it at the time.
After graduation
in 2004 he enrolled at Kent State University to study Mass Media
Communications. His plans for the future where forever changed when he was
assigned to read Slaughter House Five
by Kurt Vonnegut in an English Composition Course. To that point he read very
little and had never read a book that pushed the boundaries of society so
coarsely. In fact he thought that such a book would never exist. He knew at
that time that writing was his calling.
David transferred
to the University of South Florida seeking a large state school as a muse for
his writing as well as a significant decrease in tuition rates. While an upperclassman,
he was honored to have Sticks and Bones (as
short story he wrote) published by Thread, a University publication. He graduated
in 2008 with high marks.
Tragedy hit David’s life just two months after graduation when his
Father was diagnosed with Cancer and passed away a short month later. He has
always counted himself grateful to have been in Barberton with his Father when
he passed.
David and his wife Brittany live in Lawrenceville, Georgia just
outside of Atlanta. He is employed by the Chi Phi Fraternity and serves as a
traveling consultant. He has traveled the United States extensively, visiting over
40 college campuses and 50 cities since he started in 2010. He writes on a
regular basis and is in the process of seeking out a MFA program that would
best fit his style and goals.
